This page is for you! Whether you're a kid, a teenager, or a grown-up, take a few minutes to discover the greatest gift anyone could ever receive.
Halloween can mean costumes, neighbors, and a bag full of candy. Maybe you scanned a little code attached to a treat and ended up here. Welcome! This page is for you, even if you have never read the Bible before.
Candy can be delicious, but it does not last. What if someone offered you a gift that could never run out and was worth more than anything you could buy?
The Bible tells us about that gift: eternal life through Jesus Christ. Here is why that is such good news.

You Matter to God
The Bible says God created people in His image (Genesis 1:27). That means every person has value. Your life matters to the God who made you, and so do the lives of people who are different from you.
God loves us. John 3:16 says He loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, Jesus, so that people who believe in Him can have eternal life. But why did Jesus need to come? To understand that, we first need to understand what went wrong.

What Is Sin, and Why Does It Matter?
Have you ever lied, been cruel to someone, or done what you knew was wrong? Most of us have. Adults have, too. The Bible calls wrong thoughts, words, and actions sin. Refusing to do what God says is right can also be sin.
Romans 3:23 says everyone has sinned. We cannot fix every wrong choice by doing a few good things afterward. Think of hurting a friend: being kind the next day is good, but it does not make the hurt disappear.
God is holy, which means He is completely good and never does wrong. He is also just, which means He always does what is right. Because sin is serious, God does not ignore it. Sin separates us from God, and it brings death and judgment. Judgment means we must answer to God for the wrong we have done.
That is the hard part of the story. But it is not the end.

Jesus Came to Rescue Us
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He came into the world as a real human being and lived without sin. He cared for people who were sick, lonely, or rejected. He taught the truth about God and showed what love looks like.
Even though Jesus had done nothing wrong, He willingly died on a cross. The Bible says He died for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:3–4). That means He took the punishment sinners deserve so we could be forgiven and welcomed into a right relationship with God. Forgiven means God no longer holds our sins against us when we belong to Jesus.
We could never rescue ourselves this way. Jesus did for us what we could not do for ourselves.

The Tomb Was Empty
Jesus did not stay dead. On the third day, He rose from the grave, just as Scripture said He would. His resurrection—His return to life—shows that death did not defeat Him (1 Corinthians 15:3–4).
Jesus is alive! That is why Christians call His message the gospel. Gospel simply means good news. Jesus died for our sins and rose again, and through Him God offers us forgiveness and life.

God's Gift Cannot Be Earned
Imagine someone gives you a present. You do not have to buy it from them first. If you did, it would not really be a gift.
God's rescue is called salvation. Salvation means that Jesus saves us from sin and its consequences, forgives us, and gives us new life with God. The Bible says we are saved by God's grace through faith, not by earning it with good works (Ephesians 2:8–9).
Grace means God's kindness toward us even though we do not deserve it. Faith means trusting Jesus—who He is and what He has done—instead of trusting our own goodness to make us right with God.
Doing good things matters, but good behavior cannot buy forgiveness. We obey God because we belong to Him, not to make Him owe us a place in heaven.

What Does It Mean to Trust Jesus?
Jesus said to repent and believe the good news (Mark 1:15). Repent means to turn away from sin and turn toward God. It means admitting that our way is wrong and wanting to follow His way instead.
Believing in Jesus is more than knowing facts about Him. It means trusting Him as your Savior—the One who rescues you from sin—and your Lord—the One who has the right to lead your life.
You do not need to memorize special words or reach a certain age before talking to God. You can admit your sins to Him, ask for forgiveness, and trust what Jesus did for you. Talking to God is called prayer, but repeating a prayer does not save anyone. Jesus saves those who truly turn to Him and trust Him.
Does that mean a Christian never makes another mistake? No. Christians still sin, but they keep learning to follow Jesus, ask for forgiveness, and turn away from wrong choices. Following Him is the beginning of a new life.

A Gift That Lasts Forever
The Bible calls that new life eternal life. It means knowing God through Jesus now and living with Him forever, even beyond death. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25).
One day, everyone who belongs to Jesus will live with Him where sin, suffering, and death are gone. No bag of candy, toy, or treasure can compare with that hope. And this gift is not only for children or only for adults: Jesus welcomes everyone who comes to Him in faith.

Your Response
So what will you do with what you have read? God made you and loves you. We have all sinned. Jesus died for sinners and rose again. He calls us to turn from sin and trust Him, not our own goodness, for forgiveness and eternal life.
If you have questions, begin by reading about Jesus in the Gospel of John, a book in the Bible. You can also talk with a trusted Christian who can help you understand what you read. But do not confuse learning facts about Jesus with trusting Him personally. He calls you to follow Him.
If you already belong to Jesus, thank Him for this gift and share the good news with someone else. The greatest treat is not what you carry home in a bag. It is the life Jesus gives.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for making us and loving us. Thank You for sending Jesus to die for our sins and rise again. Help us understand Your Word, turn away from what is wrong, and trust Jesus. Teach us to love You, follow You, and share this good news with others. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Remember: Saying a prayer does not save us. Jesus saves us when we repent and trust in Him (Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 10:9–10).
Before You Go ...
Maybe you came here because someone gave you a piece of candy. We're glad you did!
But here's something we hope you'll remember long after the candy is gone:
Jesus loves you. He died for sinners, rose from the dead, and offers eternal life to everyone who turns to Him and trusts Him.
Jesus made this wonderful promise:
"Whoever comes to me I will never drive away."
If you want to learn more about Jesus, start by reading the Gospel of John in the Bible. You can read it with a parent, guardian, or trusted Christian adult. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
The candy was a small gift. The greatest gift is eternal life through Jesus Christ.
A Note for Parents and Guardians
